Muhammad (S) -The Best & Last Prophet-according to Quran

Prophet Muhammad (S) was given the message just like other prophets/messengers, yet the message was completed and perfected on him.

[4:163] Surely We have revealed to you as We revealed to Nuh, and the prophets after him, and We revealed to Ibrahim and Ismail and Ishaq and Yaqoub and the tribes, and Isa and Ayub and Yunus and Haroun and Sulaiman and We gave to Dawood.

Muhammad (S) 's religion was mainly the Religion Of Prophet Ibrahim a.s (Islam)

[3:68] Most surely the nearest of people to Ibrahim are those who followed him and this Prophet and those who believe and Allah is the guardian of the believers.

The Religion was Completed and Perfected on Muhammad (S)

5:3 This day have I perfected for you your religion and completed My favor on you and chosen for you Islam as a religion; but whoever is compelled by hunger, not inclining willfully to sin, then surely Allah is Forgiving, Merciful.

Muhammad was sent with the glad tiding that one day Islam will prevail over ALL RELIGIONS.

[9:33] He it is Who sent His Apostle with guidance and the religion of truth, that He might cause it to prevail over all religions, though the polytheists may be averse.

Muhammad was sent for his time and until the end of times....
62:2He is the One who sent to the gentiles a messenger from among them, to recite to them His revelations, purify them, and teach them the scripture and wisdom. Before this, they had gone far astray.
62:3And to many generations subsequent to them. He is the Almighty, Most Wise.

Muhammad (S) is called the "Seal Of Prophets"which is also complete in it's meaning, the BEST, the LAST.No prophet can come after him!

[33:40] Muhammad is not the father of any of your men, but he is the Messenger of ALLAH, and the seal of the Prophets and ALLAH has full knowledge of all things.

Allah ta'la has assigned the four great rewards in the other world (darajaat) for those who follow Allah and the prophet Muhammad (S). Nabiyeen, Siddiqeen, Shuhada and Soaliheen. This proves the importance of following the Religion of Islam through Muhammad (S).
These rewards are assigned for Akhirat since no came can claim I' a Soalaeh, or Siddeeq or Nabi or Shaheed. (Some people are mis-interpretiethis Ayat to justify the continuition of prophet-hood in Islam)
( Hadiths also proves that Muhammad (s) is the Last prophet and there will be No prophet after him)

4:69 Those who obey GOD and the messenger belong with those blessed by GOD - the prophets, the saints, the martyrs, and the righteous. These are the best company.

"These are the best company." means that those rewarded ones will be in the company of the rewarded peoples in here-after!

These rewards can be compared ,in terms of following Allah and prophets in general.

[57:19] Those who believed in GOD and His messengers are the saints and martyrs.

Generally Allah says he will appoint his khalifas to revive and establish His religion, from time to time.

24:55 ALLAH has promised to those among you who believe and do good works that HE will, surely, make them successors (Khalifa) in the earth, as HE made Successors from among those who were before them; and that HE will, surely, establish for them their religion which HE has chosen for them; and that HE will, surely, give them in exchange security and peace after their fear; They will worship ME and they will not associate anything with ME. Then whoso disbelieves after that, they will be the rebellious.

May Allah guide us to the right path. Ameen

Prophets In Quran

Faith in Prophets is an essential part of Eeman for every Muslim. Allah sent prophets in all nations. All prophets are equally respectable
, known or unknown.

2:177] It is not righteousness that you turn your faces towards the East and the West, but righteousness is this that one should believe in Allah and the last day and the angels and the Book and the prophets, and give away wealth out of love for Him to the near of kin and the orphans and the needy and the wayfarer and the beggars and for (the emancipation of) the captives, and keep up prayer and pay the poor-rate; and the performers of their promise when they make a promise, and the patient in distress and affliction and in time of conflicts -- these are they who are {rue (to themselves) and these are they who guard (against evil).

[2:213] (All) people are a single nation; so Allah raised prophets as bearers of good news and as warners, and He revealed with them the Book with truth, that it might judge between people in that in which they differed; and none but the very people who were given it differed about it after clear arguments had come to them, revolting among themselves; so Allah has guided by His will those who believe to the truth about which they differed and Allah guides whom He pleases to the right path.

[3:84] Say: We believe in Allah and what has been revealed to us, and what was revealed to Ibrahim and Ismail and Ishaq and Yaqoub and the tribes, and what was given to Musa and Isa and to the prophets from their Lord; we do not make any distinction between any of them, and to Him do we submit

35:24 Surely We have sent you with the truth as a bearer of good news and a warner; and there is not a people but a warner has gone among them.

The concept of prophethood is the deliverance of Allah's message to people and make them obedient to ONE GOD.

3:79-3:85
It is not (possible) for any human being unto whom Allah had given the Scripture and wisdom and the prophethood that he should afterwards have said unto mankind: Be slaves of me instead of Allah; but (what he said was): Be ye faithful servants of the Lord by virtue of your constant teaching of the Scripture and of your constant study thereof.
And he commanded you not that ye should take the angels and the prophets for lords. Would he command you to disbelieve after ye had surrendered (to Allah) ?
When Allah made (His) covenant with the prophets, (He said): Behold that which I have given you of the Scripture and knowledge. And afterward there will come unto you a messenger, confirming that which ye possess. Ye shall believe in him and ye shall help him. He said: Do ye agree, and will ye take up My burden (which I lay upon you) in this (matter) ? They answered: We agree. He said: Then bear ye witness. I will be a witness with you.
Then whosoever after this shall turn away: they will be miscreants.
Seek they other than the religion of Allah, when unto Him submitteth whosoever is in the heavens and the earth, willingly or unwillingly, and unto Him they will be returned.
Say (O Muhammad): We believe in Allah and that which is revealed unto us and that which was revealed unto Abraham and Ishmael and Isaac and Jacob and the tribes, and that which was vouchsafed unto Moses and Jesus and the prophets from their Lord. We make no distinction between any of them, and unto Him we have surrendered.
And whoso seeketh as religion other than the Surrender (to Allah) it will not be accepted from him, and he will be a loser in the Hereafter.
